Rare operational Flying Fortress will appear at municipal airport

A restored WWII B-17 bomber, "Sentimental Journey," will visit the Mountain Home Municipal Airport July 10-12, offering rides and tours of the historic aircraft.
The event is being provided by the Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, a non-profit organization that restores historic aircraft to flying condition and displays them, along with WWII memorabilia and a museum at Falcon Field in Mesa, Ariz.
The B-17, restored as a flying museum and memorial to the crews who flew and died in the planes during WWII, is scheduled to arrive at the airport at noon on Friday, July 10, remaining on display until it departs early Monday morning, July 13.
It will be on display from noon to 6 p.m. on July 10, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 11 and 12.
Tours of the aircraft will be offered at a cost of $5 for those ages 13 to adult, and $3 for children ages 5-12 (those under 5 will be admitted free).
In addition, a limited number of rides will be offered. The 45-minute flights will cost $425 per person (tax deductible because of the organization's tax-exempt status). To make reservations for a flight call 1-602-448-9415.
Proceeds from the tours and flights will be used to maintain the aircraft, one of the few B-17s in the world still in flying condition.
