July 4 fireworks will be one of the best in state

One of the largest Fourth of July fireworks displays in the state will be put on Saturday by the Mountain Home Volunteer Fire Department.
Fire Chief Phil Gridley said that according to the department's supplier of pyrotechnics, only Pocatello will have a larger show.
Last year, the firemen shot off 1,700 "shots" of various types. This year the show will feature nearly 3,100.
Each year's show is funded by donations from individuals throughout the community.
The fireworks display will be held at the city municipal golf course, beginning at approximately 10:15 p.m.
Public seating is available on the fairway of Hole No. 1 off N. 18th East St. Sprinklers will be turned on throughout the rest of the golf course during the show.
No private fireworks or pets are allowed on the course, but those attending are encouraged to "bring your own blankets and chairs," Gridley said, while urging everyone to please pick up after themselves following the show.
East Eighth North Street, from N. 18th East to American Legion, the road that runs in front of the golf course, will be closed to traffic for the show. Vehicles with handicapped stickers, however, will be allowed to park in the golf course parking lot.
Those parking near the golf course are reminded to observe common courtesy and not park in areas that would block the driveways of residences.
Police will be out in force to help with traffic control both before and after the event.
