West, Base staff raise Komen funds

Two schools from Mountain Home participated in a friendly competition to raise money for the Komen Foundation and the Race for the Cure.
Staff members, parents, friends and family all joined together and between the two schools raised $2,397 for the Race for the Cure. They had a total of 92 people on the two teams.
West Elementary brought in the highest total -- $1,887. The money was raised by staff with a quilt donation from Marcella Valdez, which raised $279, Sweats Friday, in which staff paid a $1 to wear sweats, for a total of $169, and the remainder was raised by online pledges.
Base Primary brought in $510. They had a higher percentage of staff participation with 41 people on their team. Team captains were a married couple, Tricia and Travis Henke.
