Without Yucca build no plants
Wednesday, May 6, 2009
Dear editor:
I have never been an opponent of nuclear energy. If handled properly it could be the energy answer of the future.
However we should not make the mistake of storing high and mid level radioactive waste at the generator site for an extended and indefinite period of time. This process of passing a problem from one generation to another must be stopped.
A final solution should be in place for the proper disposal and storage of the nuclear waste that we generate. Without the opening of a national nuclear depository such as Yucca Mountain, Nevada, I do not feel that the construction of any new reactor sites should be pursued.
