12-year-old girl races to win her fifth motocross crown
12-year-old CJ Bish of Mountain Home is well on her way to winning her fifth state motocross title.
Bish is competing in the Women's Class of the Idaho State Motorcross Series and recently took a first place in Glenns Ferry on her CRS 150 in the 150cc class competiton for youths 12 years old and younger.
She also took first in March at the Owyhee Motorcycle Club.
To win the title, she needs to have the most points from the 9 series races held around Idaho.
Bish's dad, Kevin, said "she is really having fun and taking this more serious this year, since the National Women's class announced that females can go pro and make a career from racing."
"My wife, Sandy, and I are very proud of CJ. She has been training at home, where we have a track and we are looking forward to her next race in Salmon on May16-17."
He also said "she will be racing at Mountain Home Optimist Park in July and there's a lot of local support from family and friends, especially her 'Papa Gene'."
"Watching her win races and trophies is great. She has been giving some of her trophies away, that she has doubles of, to (youths) five to eight years old who show interest in racing or didn't win a trophy."
Kevin Bish also mentioned that "CJ will also be racing out of state this summer in Washington. If she does well there and depending how she places in the Idaho series, CJ could be Top Ten nationwide. This will get her an invite to a special National Series woman's race."
The Bish family thanked everyone for their support and "especially all the help and time from Tag and Robin Hawks."
