Jordan Bobzien wins state gymnastic championship
Jordan Bobzien, 11, of Mountain Home, recently captured the 2009 Level 7 USA Idaho State Gymnastics Championship.
Jordan, who attends Hacker Middle School, is the daughter of Chris and Barb Bobzien of Mountain Home.
Jordan finished first in the state championships on the vault with a score of 9.750 and first on the uneven bars with a 9.450.
She also placed third on the balance beam and floor exercise competitions with scores of 9.2 and 9.350, respectively.
Jordan posted a career high 37.750 All-Around score in her quest to be the best in the state and also received the Idaho All State Award.
She began gymnastics in Fairbanks, Alaska, at age three and a half. "We got her started for something to do during the long cold winter months and she fell in love with it," her mother said.
She practices four days a week, four hours a day training at Wings in Boise. She credits her accomplishment to her coach, Jesse Dowell, her teammates and her family for their dedication and support.
The Wings Level 7 team finished in second place at the March 27 tournament.
