Girls golf team ties Skyview for first place
The Mountain Home girls golf team continued its great start to the golf season, tying Skyview for first at last Monday's conference golf match at Broadmore Country club in Nampa.
The Tiger boys and JV boys both finished second.
Alicen Wendall led the Mountain Home effort, shooting a 53.
Shayla Streeter and Shelby Stevens both shot 55s, and Melanie Bate came in with a 67, as the Lady Tigers finished tied with Skyview with a 230 team total.
Stephen Elliot led the Tiger varsity, carding a 44, the third best score on the day. Travis Goldsby and Tyler Bennett both came in with 49s, and Zach Pomerantz was one back at 50, as they finished with a 192 team score, which tied them with Skyview, good for second and 12 shots behind Emmett.
The Tigers JV boys team also had a good day, finishing second.
Doug Zielnicki led the way with a 50, followed by Michael Heinen with a 51, Gavin Cline shot a 52 and Colton Zamora came in with a 57.
The Mountain Home girls were at the Treasure Valley Invitational Golf Tournament at Spurwing on Thursday, where they finished fourth.
Middleton's girls won the event, shooting a 357, to far outdistance the rest of the field. Mountain View was second with a 414 total, three shots ahead of Bishop Kelly. The Mountain Home girls were fourth, shooting a 451. Columbia was next with 476, followed by Skyview, 480, Nampa Christian, 488, and Nampa, 513.
Shayla Streeter and Shelby Stevens led Mountain Home, both shooting a 111, which tied them for 13th. Alicen Wendall was one stroke back at 112. Kelsey Egusquiza carded a 117, and Melanie Bate shot a 129.
The Tiger boys golf team played at the Canyon County Classic at River Bend Golf Course on Friday.
