Tigers play well in any weather
Dear editor:
The Mighty Tigers strike again.
Friday night in Sandpoint, Idaho, the Mountain Home Tigers showed what they were made of. The word around the sportswriters and pundits was that the Mountain Home team were fair-weather football players.
The Tigers proved them wrong again.
In three inches of mud, rain and more mud they won the state quarter finals against Sandpoint 10-7.
It would be so hard to point out who was the most outstanding ballplayer of the game, even though there were a couple of stand outs, so I will say an entire football team took the field and played as a team. They came, they saw and they conquered.
Congratulations Tigers, you have made Mountain Home proud.
Congratulations again to Head Coach Brian Floyd and his entire staff for the excellent way they bring these young men to do their best every time.
I would also like to thank all the cheerleaders and their leaders and coaches and parents for the devotion and dedication to the cause. You are as much a part of the team as the guys playing the game. We need your support, always.
A big thank you to all the fans who travel with the team no matter where they go. I am sure it was a real chore to travel so many hours to Sandpoint and back, not to mention the expense. Your loyalty and devotion is deeply appreciated.
Last, but certainly not least, thanks to Jeff Johnson, our high school principal, and all his staff and teachers for their great support. You have helped make this year so memorable for so many.
Now it is onward and upward. Go Tigers.
A very proud grandfather,
Larry Heinen
