SNA fighting for everyone
Dear editor:
The Snake River Alliance has continued to fulfill its mission by reaching out to Elmore County residents to find out more about their county and the proposed nuclear power reactor. There has been a groundswell of not only Alliance members, but Elmore County residents who do not agree with the use of agricultural land for nuclear power reactor purposes.
Nuclear power is an issue that will affect the entire state and future generations. As a public advocacy group it is our role and mission to facilitate member involvement in this process -- this includes providing transportation for those members and the environmental studies students from BSU, who have chosen to oppose a nuclear reactor only 65 miles from Boise.
The Alliance intends to take a backseat to residents of Elmore County and will step up when asked to or scheduled by the planning and zoning committee to do so. Moreover, we have consistently told our member base, outside of Elmore, that if they want to testify, we would like them to wait until the residents in Elmore County are heard. Then, we will provide our view about the rezoning of the land and why it is not agreeable with the county's comprehensive plan.
It might be helpful, Mr. Everitt, in order to make sure your representation of our work is accurate, to ask what our methodology is before publishing your opinion.
