Sprinkler system puts out small Three Springs fire
Wednesday, September 24, 2008
A small fire in a couch at the Three Springs juvenile detention facility in Mountain Home caused approximately $1,000 damage to the facility, most from smoke and water damage.
Fire crews were called out at 4:41 a.m. Wednesday morning but by the time they arrived the sprinkler system at the facility had already put the fire out.
"It shows what a sprinkler system can do," said Fire Chief Phil Gridley. "It saved that facility" from greater damage.
The fire apparently started in a couch in a small day room where a Playstation may have been left running. Gridley said he wasn't sure if it was due to an electrical problem with the device or if it simply overheated.
