The Mountain Home Lady Tigers dropped an SIC 4A conference volleyball match to Skyview in three games last Tuesday night at the Junior High Gym in Mountain Home.
Skyview jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the first game, before the Lady Tigers battled back to within three, 13-16, but a 9-2 run by the Lady Hawks turned into a 25-15 Skyview win.
The second game was back and forth early, and had nine ties, the last one at 13-13, during an 8-0 run by Skyview that saw them battled back from a 11-13 deficit to take the lead, 19-13.
Mountain Home got within three again, at 16-19, but ended up losing the game, 17-25.
Skyview jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in the third game, and led all the way, the closest Mountain Home got was within five, at 6-11, as the Lady Hawks took advantage of Mountain Home miscues to win the game, 25-13, and the match, 3-0.
Mountain Home Lady Tiger volleyball coach Rachele Asbury thought her Lady Tigers showed glimpses of their potential, especially in the second game.
"The second game we came out strong, but just didn't give it our all through the whole game, and they're a team that we can definitely play with, if we're playing up to our potential.
"We ran in different rotations tonight, trying to work some different things out, but we didn't play up to our abilities."
Blas Lord was 11/12 in serves, with six service points, two aces and two kills.
Samantha Laughlin was 9/10 serving, with three service points, four kills and a block.
Sarah Cantrell was 3/3 serving with six kills and a block. Charde Huntington was 5/8 serving, with three service points, an ace and three kills. Arlene Futch was 4/6 in serves, with three service points and an ace. Nickayla Skinner was 4/7 serving, with two service points, an ace, a kill, a block and 15 assists, and Jasmyn Jewett was 2/2 serving, with one service point and one kill.
Mountain Home made good on just 38 of 48 serves (79 percent), while Skyview hit on 68 of 73 serves (93 percent).
"We can't serve like that and expect to win against a team like Skyview," said Coach Asbury. "It's frustrating when we work on serves in practice the night before."

All things considered, Coach Asbury thought they learned a lot at the Wood River tourney.
"We tried some people in some different locations just trying to figure out the best mix of six girls out there on the court at any given time, and the tournament was definitely a learning experience, not just for volleyball, but all around."
