Man arrested allegedly trying to rob liquor store

Monday, January 28, 2008

Mountain Home Police quickly arrested at the scene a man who allegedly attempted to hold up the state liquor store in Mountain Home Monday afternoon.

The man displayed a gun he had allegedly stolen from Airman's Pawn only minutes earlier and told the clerk at the liquor store "this is a stick-up," the clerk told the Mountain Home News.

The man, who has not been named yet, then apparently asked that police be called and allowed the customers to leave the store, according to initial reports from the scene.

From the time police received a report of a man running out Airman Pawn with a gun, to receiving the report of a man with a gun at the liquor store, to his arrest without incident, was approximately ten minutes.

Police are just beginning their investigation of the incident.

Look for more details in Wednesday's Mountain Home News.

  • Its not really Hard too understand, its pretty nice in prison. I went out there a few times, saw the guys playing baseball and kicking it, three hots and a cot, and free medical, they got it better than me and family and I served my country for 15 years,

you know folks, if we did what was Right and needed "lock-down 23/24 shower once a week, theses guys would not be so eager too commit a crime, no wonder we got so many probems. this jerk was so eager to go too prison he did NOT even care about the other people in the store and how they felt about all what he was doing,, and that telling !!!!

its what Ive been writing all along, THE PROGRAM we have "DON"T WORK" maybe one day the Government will uncork. I don't know.

I HOPE THEY THOW THE BOOK AT HIM, that way he learn how too play baseball too, or until we uncork, then he'll be licking that paint off his jail cell for a long long time !

  • sorry about the spelling?

  • Well since it's apparent that not many can spell--allow me to clarify.

-The "man" in question is just barely 18.

-Even though the "victims" had no way of knowing this, he would never hurt anyone.

-He did NOT state that it was a stick up.

-Don't you think that flashing a gun that you know is unloaded and then ASKING for the cops to be called might just be a cry for help?

-He didn't get this way on his own.

  • This "man" could be related to you. Sure you have harsh feelings and feel you can judge without knowing what this "man" is all about, after all he is from your hometown, so did you not help in his distruction? Could you, his community and friends not have reached out to someone in need before he went out and took drastic steps as a cry for help? You cannot hurt someone with an empty gun, only yourself.

  • This man is obviously mentally ill, but that does not excuse what he did, and even if my own brother did that, I think I would have to recommend public flogging... Don't feed him, just beat him with a stick of bamboo and let him go to think about it. This method has proven to be a very effective deterrent in Singapore.

  • and it's exactly those "small-town" backward views that I'm sure contributed to his delinquincy. Great Job! Beat 'em when they're down!

  • You're absolutely right... it was not bright at all... INCREDIBLY irresponsible and dangerous. But the point I'm trying to make, it that perhaps it wasn't maliciousness, or intent to steal/hurt someone else.... sadly, maybe that's what he wanted for himself.

  • I've been in the same situation as this ''man'' plenty of people have is it such a big deal.. it must be some type of misunderstanding.. i believe it must have been a cry for help.. and if he was 18 and he asked for the cops to be called maybe he just wanted attention. no body was hurt he wasnt endangering anyone.. maybe the community should give out a helping hand to this ''man'' or something.. everyone deserves a second chance. . and a fair deal..

  • LOL. "Maybe that's what he wanted for himself," princesstessy??? There's a lot easier ways to off yourself than that.
