Lady Tigers rally to beat Emmett
The Mountain Home Lady Tigers battled back from a 12-point halftime deficit to beat the Lady Huskies from Emmett, 51-49, Tuesday night in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.
Mountain Home trailed the Lady Huskies 13-9 after a quarter, and a 16-8 edge for Emmett in the second period made the deficit 29-17 at halftime.
A 12-3 edge for Mountain Home in the third quarter brought the Lady Tigers back within three, 32-29, after three, and they exploded for 22 points in the final quarter to take the lead and hold off Emmett, 51-49.
"That was a great second half!" said Mountain Home Lady Tigers basketball coach Brent Keener. "That third quarter, we held them to just three points, and we were still down three at the end of the third, but we were able to fight our way back into it, so it was extremely exciting."
Shelby Posey registered a double-double for the Lady Tigers, scoring 12 points and bringing down 12 rebounds. Francesca Hale netted eight points, Brandie Riggs, Hannah Zamora and Chantell Crane each added seven points, Angie Rios had four, and Rebecca Wroten and Emily Moranda both scored two points.
The win improved the Lady Tigers to 6-5 overall, and 4-2 in league play. Mountain Home returns to action Jan. 3 at Middleton to complete the first time through their league opponents, and are home against Nampa on Jan. 5.
