JV football team defeats Nampa for 2nd win
The Mountain Home Tigers junior varsity football team downed Nampa last week for their second win of the season. The following is a recap of their games to date:
Eagle JV 47
Tiger JV 19
The Tiger JV dropped a 47-19 contest at Eagle on Aug. 30.
In that game, the Tigers rushed for 126 yards, led by Tommy Miller with 96 yards and two touchdowns. Julio Cantu rushed for 22 yards and Destry Royce had 18 yards rushing.
Tom Hennessey passed for 115 yards and a score, while Brock Morris passed for 33 yards.
Morris also caught five passes for 64 yards, Jordan Warila caught two for 18 yards, Raphael Belinfante caught one for 31 yards, Matt King had one catch for 23 yards, and Tommy Miller caught one for 12 yards.
Capital JV 22
Tigers JV 8
The Tigers JV hosted Capital on September 6 and lost, 22-8 to the young Eagles.
The Tigers managed only 55 yards rushing against Capital.
Tommy Miller rushed for 61 yards on 18 carries, and Destry Royce rushed eight times for 16 yards.
Tom Hennessey passed for 37 yards. Raphael Belinfante caught one pass for 17 yards, Brock Morris had one for 10 yards, Destry Royce caught one for eight, and Jordan Warila had a seven-yard catch.
Middleton JV 15
Tigers JV 12
Mountain Home opened conference play at home against Middleton and let one get away from them, as the Vikings won, 15-12.
Tommy Miller led the Tigers on rushing with 68 on 12 carries.
Destry Royce had eight rushes for 47 yards. Tom Hennessey completed 11 of 18 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
Tommy Miller caught six passes for 66 yards and a score, Brock Morris had two catches for 30 yards, Jordan Warila caught two passes for 15 yards and a score, and Tyree Harmon had one catch for 22 yards.
Tigers JV 34
Columbia 19
Tom Hennessey passed for 166 yards to help lead the Tiger JV to a 34-19 win at Columbia on September 20.
Hennessey completed all 112 of his passes, two for touchdowns.
Tommy Miller once again led the ground game, rushing for 69 yards on seven carries. Brock Morris rushed 15 times for nine yards, and Layne Campos had one carry for six yards.
Tommy Miller caught six passes for 76 yards, Cody Staebler caught three for 39 yards, Raphael Belinfante caught two for 44, and Tucker Martin caugh one for seven yards.
BK JV 26
Tiger JV 14
The Tigers JV dropped a 26-14 game at Bishop Kelly on Sept. 27.
The Tigers had their best rushing output on the season, rushing for 202 yards. Tommy Miller rushed 27 times for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Julio Cantu had four rushes for 22 yards.
Tom Hennessey passed five times and completed them all for 37 yards.
Tyree Harmon had two catches for 17 yards, Jordan Warila caught one for 13, Julio Cantu caught one for four yards, and Raphael Belinfante caught one for three yards.
Tigers JV 34
Nampa JV 19
The Tiger JV picked up their second win of the season last Wednesday night at Nampa against the Bulldog JV.
The young Tigers had their best offensive output of the season, rushing for 288 yards. Tommy Miller once again led the rushing attack, with 18 carries for a season high 239 yards and two scores.
Tucker Martin carried five times for 27 yards and a touchdown, Julio Cantu rushed twice for 15 yards, Brock Morris had four rushes for four yards, Drew Hopkins carried once for three yards and a touchdown, and Jordan Mason carried five times for three yards.
Brock Morris completed six of eight passes for 59 yards, and Julio Cantu completed one of two for 44 yards.
Jordan Warila caught five passes for 52 yards, Tyree Harmon had one catch for 44 yards, and Tommy Miller caught one for five yards.
The win improved the young Tigers to 2-4 on the season, and 2-2 in conference play.
