The Mountain Home Tigers cross country team ran well at last Thursday's cross country meet in Nampa.

The Mountain Home girls came in 10th out of 12 teams competing.

Haley Schaefer led Mountain Home, running a 21:26.8, which placed her 12th.

Alysia Crandall ran her best time ever, 22:06, which placed her 21st. Jordan Vivier ran a 23:23, which placed her 47th. Jessi Cameron came in at 24:09, which was 58th. Jennica Quintal came in with a 24:46, which was 73rd. Tiana Svetovich ran her best time ever, 26:32.

Three Mountain Home girls ran in the JV race.

Ashley Benham ran a 28:12, good for 65th, Courtney Ashford ran a 29:38, which placed her 72nd, and Korie Foster ran a 32:45, good for 84th.

The Tiger boys came in 13th out of 16 teams competing.

Eagle, which won the girls competition, also was first in the boys competition.

Matt Bernyk led the Tiger runners, coming in with a 19:20, good for 51st, four places better than teammate Nick Reynolds, who ran a 19:26. Dylan Johnson had a time of 19:53 (66th), Garrett Wood ran a 20:15 (76th), and Gavin Cline ran a 20:28 (85th). Andrew Martin came in with a 21:02, and Nico Pinque ran a 22:38.

"The kids ran fairly well," said Tiger cross country coach Doug Root. "We ran pretty close to the same times we ran the week before at Jerome. It was the same type of course, relatively flat, but not as much hard pavement, which is why the times were probably a little bit different.

"We had an outstanding performance by Alysia Crandall. She took about 45 seconds off her time, which is amazing. She moved from our number three to our number two runner.

"Jordan Vivier, who has been doubling up with cross country and volleyball, ran a personal best, and Tiana Svetkovich also ran a personal best, so the kids ran very well."

Mountain Home hosts the annual Mountain Home Invitational tomorrow at Desert Canyon Golf Course.

"I'm not sure who all is going to be here," said Coach Root. "I know most of the Meridian schools are going to be here, and Nampa will be here. In years past, we were often the only meet in the area, so we had all the schools, but Kuna now has a meet and Nampa Christian is having a meet there, so we'll have to wait and see who all shows up. Hopefully, we'll have a pretty good turnout."
