Soccer teams score lopsided wins
Coach Curtis Viall's U12 Boys pulled away from Middleton in the second half of their soccer match Saturday to secure a 7-3 victory.
Tied 3-3 at the half, Assistant Coach Matt Emerson had the defense pick up the pressure to hold Middleton to only one score while United's offense put four scores in the back of the net.
Jason Christopherson had two goals in the win as did AJ Daniels, followed by Brandon Bodily, Austin Lee and Sterling Adamson with one goal each.
Defenders Sergio Eulalio, Eric Stratton and Ben Klitzke held Middleton to only four shots on goal in the second half, thus helping goalkeeper Dustin Emerson shut down the visitor's attacks.
The U12 Tigers suffered a 7-2 loss to Osprey Rush at Aguirre Park, with Jacob Hedrick and Austin Lucas providing the scores for Mountain Home.
The Tigers were only down 3-1 at the half, however the team was short on players due to spring break and Osprey's speed and skills took its toll in the second half. Jake Lucas had several shots on goal and showed impressive skill and aggressiveness in his ball control against larger players that were three years older than himself, according to the coaches.
The U16 Boys had a tough day against the Boise Capitals Premier U16 team, losing 10-0. Despite the score and the advanced team skills of their opponent, Coach Rob Daniels said he was proud at how his team never gave up and played tough to the end. Accolades on the day went to goalkeepers Christian Figueroa, Raif Armstrong and Erik Gutierrez, as well as defender Alfredo Pedroza.
Coach Humberto Garcia's U14 Girls lost 3-1 to Kuna United.
Alondra Rodriguez put the lone score in for Mountain Home as midfielders Kelsey Egusquiza and Kelly Robins kept the pressure on for additional scoring attempts by teammates Adriana Garcia and Jessica Tindall, only to be thwarted by the strong Kuna defense.
Coach Jeff Gibbons' U14 Boys secured a 5-0 shutout victory over Middleton at Eastside Park with Austin Clark finding the back of the net off a long goal kick by keeper Tomas Guillen just before the half.
The second half was dominated by "great defense by Kendal Jackson, Tyler Casey and Jessie Caraballo" said Coach Gibbons.
Tyler Brennan and Mike Daniels each scored two goals off great passing from Blake Pachner, Drew Borgholthaus, Marco Rodriguez, Jalen Gibbons and Tyson Gibbons.
The Bend/Crane U18 team made the long drive from Oregon to face off against the U18 Boys and found themselves on the losing end of an uneven contest, 15-0.
Scores for Mountain Home were made by: Antonio Martinez (2), Eduardo Martinez, Ramero Pedroza (2), Adam Wegrzyniak (2), Bryan Walsh, Tim Novinger, Christian Adamson, Sean O'Neill, Jaime Rios, Greg Walsh, Adam Marsh and Lucas Marsh.
