Girls soccer splits matches
The Mountain Home Lady Tigers came away with a split of their conference girls soccer games last week, winning one and losing one.
Mountain Home 5
Columbia 0
The Lady Tigers enjoyed a hat trick from Shalamar Enrique as they jump out to an early lead and increased it throughout the game.
Besides Enrique's three goals, Emily Moranda had a goal and an assist, Jessica Egusquiza had a goal, and Laura Lothrop and Jessica Hendershot both had assists.
Mountain Home combined for five saves from goalkeepers Savannah Lopez (2) and Char Kaufman (3).
"It was a nice win," said Mountain Home girls soccer coach Carlos Jacome. "We expected Columbia to be a little weaker, because they were here for the Jamboree, but they were pretty good. They gave us a challenge, but the girls came out pretty good. We're still working on trying to get our defense a lot stronger, but it was a good win."
Bishop Kelly 3
Mountain Home 1
The Lady Tigers battled Bishop Kelly tough in conference soccer at Eastside Park last Thursday, but came up on the short end of a 3-1 match.
Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Mountain Home did get on the scoreboard in the second half on a goal by Angelina Garcia, but the Lady Knights added two more.
Savannah Lopez had 13 saves for Mountain Home.
The loss dropped Mountain Home to 4-4 overall and 3-4 in conference play. The Lady Tigers were at Middleton on Monday, host Kuna tomorrow (Thursday), and travel to Jerome on Saturday for an 11a.m. contest.
