Tigers will face Braves in Friday opener
The Mountain Home Tigers open their 2006 football season this Friday night at Bronco Stadium in Boise against the Boise Braves.
The Tigers scrimmaged against Twin Falls, Burley and Spring Creek, Nev., at a jamboree at Twin Falls on Aug. 19 and Tiger head coach Brian Floyd was pleased with their efforts at the jamboree.
"We did pretty well. We didn't lose any -- they're not really games -- but we always scored more than the other people did. It was just small things that we have to change, which was really nice, because in the past, it's always been major things that we've had to change, but these were just small movements, like a guy playing out of position by like one yard, and telling them, 'hey, move over one yard and you can make the play a lot easier.' It was those kind of adjustments that we had to make."
Coach Floyd is cautiously optimistic going into their season opener against Boise, but is not looking past the Braves.
"They're going to be a tough team," he said.
The game kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday night at BSU's Bronco Stadium in Boise.
