Police identify suspect in bank robbery
The Mountain Home Police Department has identified a man they want to question in connection with the Home Federal bank robbery in Mountain Home last week.
25-year-old, James Ray Pate AKA Sabastian Ray Pate, is described as "a person of interest" in the armed robbery that took place on July 18 at the Home Federal Savings and Loan, 400 N. 3rd East St.
At approximately 4:57 p.m., a man entered the bank and provided a note to the teller demanding money. The note indicated the robber was armed, but no weapon was displayed. The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money and the robber then fled on foot out the parking lot door of the bank to an unknown location.
Pate is described as being a white male, 5'4, 115 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Police Chief Tom Berry said that his detectives have been working together with other agencies in an attempt to identify Pate from the surveillance photo. Detectives were put in touch with the Gold Hill Police Department in Gold Hill, Ore., which said that they had had a similar bank robbery on July 6, with the suspect there matching the same description as the suspect in the Mountain Home robbery.
"We were both looking for the same person," Berry said. "We were told that he might be driving a blue/green 1994 Honda Accord bearing Oregon plate number UAC953."
Berry is asking the public's help in locating Pate.
"If anyone should come in contact with this vehicle or person contact your police department and consider this man armed and dangerous."
