Track team looks strong as season begins
The Mountain Home Tigers will open their 2006 track and field season when they host the Bishop Kelly Knights Friday in a dual track meet.
Mountain Home Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi was pleased with this year's turnout.
"We had a lot of kids come out for track this year, with a lot of young kids, as well as some coming back, so we're really happy."
Among those returning for Urquidi is Kacy Barrie, who won the girls high hurdles at state last year, and Brandon Sloan, who also placed at state in the 800-meter run.
Coach Urquidi is looking for a good meet Friday when they host Bishop Kelly.
"It should be a good meet. Bishop Kelly won state (for boys) last year, and they have a lot back from last year, so it should be a good test for us."
Action gets under way at 4 p.m. Friday at Tiger Field.
