Girls soccer takes silver at district, heads to state
The Mountain Home Lady Tigers met their nemesis, Emmett, for the district title, and although they had beaten them the last time they played them, the Lady Huskies prevailed this time, 3-0, at the District III 4A Girls Soccer Tournament at Caldwell last week.

Mountain Home goalkeeper Savannah Lopez blanked the Lady Bulldogs last Monday, getting seven saves on goal as the Mountain Home girls opened District III 4A Girls Soccer Tournament action with a 3-0 win over Nampa.
Carmen Santy, Shianna Hawley and Angelina Garcia all had goals for Mountain Home, Jessica Egusquiza and Jessica Hendershot had assists.

The Nampa win moved the Lady Tigers into the semi-finals against Skyview, which got past Kuna in first-round play.
Savannah Lopez once again came up big for Mountain Home, getting 13 saves on goal.
Jessica Hendershot and Emily Moranda both had goals, Hendershot also had an assist, as did Carmen Santy.

Mountain Home 0
Emmett shot out to a quick 2-0 lead, and added another goal early in the second half to down the Lady Tigers, 3-0, for the District Tournament Championship.
The Lady Tigers, who previously had tied Emmett, 1-1, at Emmett, and beat the Lady Huskies 4-2 at Mountain Home, had numerous shots at the goal, but were unable to get one through. Savannah Lopez had nine saves on goal for Mountain Home.
"We knew they were going to come on strong, and we just didn't perform," said Mountain Home girls soccer coach Carlos Jacome. "I don't honestly know what happened! It's like they were not into it and started getting on each other's case and they didn't play the way they're used to playing.
"We've come pretty far and have done very good, but when they start getting on each others' cases, getting upset and yelling at each other, that's it!"
The Lady Tigers open the State 4A Girls Soccer Tournament at the Capital Soccer Complex tomorrow (Thursday), playing the north Idaho champion, Lakeland, at 12:15 p.m.
