Track team heads to tri-meet
The Mountain Home Tigers open their 2004 track and field season Friday at Timberline High School in Boise, in a tri-meet against the Wolves and Eagle.
Mountain Home head track coach Rich Urquidi has been pleased with this year's turnout for track.
"We're real happy with the turnout. We've been practicing between 70 and 74 kids each day the past week, so we're real pleased."
Despite graduating their state relay qualifiers in the boys competition, Coach Urquidi likes what he has out this year.
"We did lose a lot of our relay teams last year, but I think we'll be pretty decent with our speed in the boys, and we'll have the numbers to pick and choose this year. That's one thing we're going to enjoy.
"Our girls were young last year, and had a little bit of success, and most of them came back out, and we've picked up some more, so we'll see what happens Friday when we have our first official test."
The Tigers will be competing against Timberline and Eagle Friday at Timberline.
