Alain Isaac to seek council post

Wednesday, September 26, 2001

Alain Isaac, a lifetime resident and business professional, has announced her intent to run for one of two available city council seats. Born and raised in Mountain Home, the daughter of Art and Pauline Isaac decided to enter the race after considerable encouragement from friends and local business owners.

Isaac, a graduate of Mountain Home High School and Boise State University students, said she considers herself one of Mountain Home's "most loyal citizens.

"I've always been available to donate time and money for worthwhile causes, and my centrally located business makes it convenient for people to stop in to discuss municipal matters or just visit and have a cup of coffee."

The owner and manager of Lane's Appliance has worked in the heart of downtown Mountain Home for more than 25 years. Her knowledge and experience of local issues contributes to her probability of success in her bid for city council.

"In order to compete successfully in today's strained economy, business owners must be ever mindful of customer needs. I intend to bring the same values and practices that I've employed for more than 15 years to improve upon the fiscal foundation that has kept Mountain Home a state leader for many years.

"There exists several key challenges facing our local elected officials and I intend to keep these issues in full public view and opinion until their successful completion," said Isaac. Those issues include the joint law enforcement building, police dispatch, water and franchise fees, animal and noise control, equal opportunity and treatment and senior citizens' concerns.

"The city operates on a finite amount of funds generated from taxes, fees and grants," she said. "The reduced growth rate of our economy, both nationally and locally, require advanced planning and decision making.

"Senior citizens cannot continually afford to pay ever-raising fees without an end in sight. I'm confident that I possess the necessary skills and experience to contribute to our ever challenging fiscal process."

Isaac said she believes it is time for fresh ideas and new faces in City Hall.

"I personally know most all of the candidates that are considering to run for city council. They are all qualified in their own unique way but I strongly believe that effective government is achieved when transition occurs and when new ideas are presented for consideration."

Isaac has been an active member in many civic organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, Silver Wings of Idaho (board member), Military Affairs Committee (chairman), Rotary, Brand Source Buying Group (board member), and the Christian Baptist Church.
