Shortly after noon last Tuesday (the 23rd), a fire started in the garage of a two-story wood frame home on Tanager street in north Mountain Home. The homeowners were not at the residence when the fire began. According to Mountain Home Fire Chief Moore, the fire was accidental and the result of an electrical malfunction within the garage. The fire — since named the Doubletapp fire — reached lengthwise alongside the interstate, burning for a number of miles, and stretched across county lines. She submitted the Mountain Home School District office for the donation of coffee and breakfast goodies and the district office won! The Mountain Home Police and Fire Departments clashed on Friday evening at the annual Guns versus Hoses softball game. Much to the chagrin of Chief Moore and his team, the MHFD won the game with a final score of 31-15. Trading their duty uniforms for sportier ones, the teams played hard and represented both the hard work and fun-loving sides of our Mountain Home first responders. ...

A small library from Vermont reached out a couple months ago to invite The Glenns Ferry Library to participate in a project where “Bill” visits a library in all 50 states. When “Bill” arrived at the library he was taken out and given a tour of the area. “He” was then mailed off to the next library in Texas. The creativity of the Library staff near and far was impressive. We were excited to be chosen to represent Idaho!...

Grover Floyd Boldt "Chub" 1936-2022 Chub, age 85, of Glennsferry passed away in Fruitland on August 18th, 2022. No formal services will be held. Chub was a great fisherman, hunter, and forager, and would always share his catch in the form of fish frys, meat for the freezer, or jars of pickled asparagus. ...
