In the summer of 2019, it appears that we may have a chance to have a smaller wildfire season. My, that sure would be good news for our forests and rangelands. But are you ready to do your part? In most parts of Idaho, we had above-normal snowpack and a very wet, cool spring. You might have noticed how green our rangelands look right now, even at lower elevations, and how tall and lush the vegetation has grown...

I take great pleasure in writing this letter to thank everyone who donated this year to the Fourth of July fireworks display. This community is so generous and responsive to the Streetwalkers who walk the streets from the middle of March until the Fourth of July to experience the pleasure of seeing the annual celebration of our Country's birth of a nation in such a spectacular fashion. ...

The fourth of July celebration went off with a bang with the sounds of whoops and hollers of the crowds echoing across town. Each year the Mountain Home Fire Department strives to present an event that pleases the crowds and brings all the oohs and awes and this year they did it again...

On July 2, The Elmore County Central Republican Committee met to choose the nominees for the County Coroner position. Last month the committee met and chose three people to send before the Elmore County Commissioners to choose an appointee. The matter in which the process was done caused a controversy within the committee and community as it became apparent that the most qualified person had not been afforded the chance to speak of her experience...

James Robert Urps, age 59, passed away after a courageous two-year battle with cancer, at his home in King Hill, on Saturday, July 6, 2019 surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life, with Dewey Crane officiating, will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 20,, 2019 at Glenns Ferry City Park, 509 W. Idaho Ave., Glenns Ferry. A potluck will follow until 2pm. We can reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home in Mountain Home...
