It is estimated one-third of all foods and beverages are delivered by pollinators. In the U.S., pollination produces nearly $20 billion worth of products annually. National Pollinator Week was designated June 18-24, 2018 by the Pollinator Partnership. It was created to celebrate pollinators and spread the word about what we can do to protect them. Laboratory tests indicate an Elmore County cat was infected with plague. The cat had recent contact with a rodent, which may have been a ground squirrel, or “whistle pig,” before becoming ill. The cat was treated promptly by a veterinarian and is recovering. No additional pets or people are ill. The Mountain Home School Board met on June 19 to discuss current projects and possible changes for the upcoming school year. The first item on the agenda for the open hearing was the increased price of meals throughout the district. After the board presented the changes and explained the reasons why there would be changes, they opened the floor to the public for comments and concerns...

Ardith C. Agenbroad, 96, of Nampa and formerly of Grand View, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at an assisted living facility in Nampa. Services are under the direction and care of Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel.

Douglas Lee Hoston, Sr. passed away on June 26, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Douglas was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Harold E. Hoston, Sr. and Mary Alice Dais Hoston. He married the former Cynthia Ann Stiggers. They had three beautiful children, Douglas, Jr., Melia, and Joshua. He was the proud grandfather of two grandsons and three granddaughters...

Richard Phillip Purdy, age 85, of Mountain Home, passed away on June 20, 2018. A graveside inurnment with full military honors will be held at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Mountain View Cemetery, in Mountain Home. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home...
