One of southern Idaho's largest fireworks shows will highlight Mountain Home's Independence Day celebration on Tuesday. The celebration officially begins that morning as organizers host various activities in Carl Miller Park. Details on those activities were still being finalized as the newspaper went to press. Vancha Lee Schoolcraft, daughter of Vancha Ellen Noel and Leon Everett Noel, was born May 15, 1932, and passed away at her daughter's home in Boise on June 29, 2017, at the age of 85. Lee and her husband, Paul Schoolcraft, have been longtime residents in Mountain Home...

John William Pursell Jr., 74, passed away June 27, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Mountain Home. A graveside inurnment with military honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Cremation is under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
