State unemployment rises

Strong job growth, a continued demand for workers and an increase in people looking for work edged Idaho's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate up slightly in July to 3.8 percent, according to the Idaho Department of Labor. David DeVore, a student from East Elementary School, lifts a shot into the left side of a modified goal during this year's soccer shootout, held recently at Legacy Park. Hosted by the Mountain Home Elks Lodge, the event brought together a number of students between ages 4 and 13, who put their goal-shooting skills to the test during the day. DeVore racked up 18 points that day, which was just enough to qualify for the state shoot-out finals, scheduled for later this fall in Blackfoot...
