Pilot killed in crash had ties to Elmore County

An Idaho Army National Guard AH-64D Apache attack helicopter with two pilots aboard crashed during a routine training mission last Thursday night approximately two miles south of Boise International Airport. Killed were Chief Warrant Officer 4 Stien P. Gearhart, 50, of Meridian, and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jon L. Hartway, 43, of Kuna, both assigned to 1-183rd Attack Reconnaissance Battalion of the Idaho Army National Guard.
