Mountain Home Tiger tennis enjoyed success early in the District III 4A Tennis Tournament last week. But as the tournament progressed, the wins became fewer. In boys singles, all three Mountain Home players won their first-round matches. Tim Austin won his first match 6-2, 6-0. He won his second match in three sets to advance to the quarter-finals. He then lost, but faced teammate Austin Griswold and beat him to stay alive in the district tournament...

Mountain Home Tiger Jake Egusquiza qualified for the State 4A Golf Tournament. The Tiger junior did so with his third place finish at the District III 4A Golf Tournament at Desert Canyon Golf Course in Mountain Home on May 5. Mountain Home finished fourth as a team at district, shooting a 349. Bishop Kelly won the district title, shooting a 318, two shots better than Skyview and five ahead of Middleton. The Tigers finished a stroke better than Emmett with Nampa bringing up the rear with 360...

An extension to the public trail system and renovations to the city airport highlighted a list of projects set to begin over the next few months. The finalized plans for this year's street program is expected to be approved by the city council in the next few weeks...

Gina Torrey and Dave Newman sort through bags of donated food before everything is loaded into trailers during the U.S. Post Office's 22nd Annual Letter Carriers Food Drive across America on Saturday. Local postal workers collected more than 8,600 pounds of canned goods and non-perishable food during this year's drive...

Marilyn R. Bishop, 82, formerly of Mountain Home, passed away May 8, 2014, in Meridian. There will be no services.

Cleo (Rood) Rossow, 80, went to be with our Heavenly Father May 9, 2014, with her family by her side, after a long illness. Mom loved to sing, dance, fish, camp, play cards and play bingo, but most of all she loved her children and grandchildren. Mom was born May 6, 1934, to Cy and Willie Rood, in Drewsey, Ore., she was the fourth of sixth children, she had three brothers and two sisters...
