Museum pie social, auction is Tuesday

The Mountain Home Historical Society will host its 10th Annual Pie Social on Tuesday, Aug. 16. This year, the group is hosting a Peach Pie Baking Contest and is inviting bakers to take on the challenge. Contest pies must be at the museum by 3 p.m. on Tuesday and in glass pie dishes with the maker's name and contact information, as well as where the ingredients were purchased (ten percent of the criteria is the use of local ingredients)...

George P. Evans a long-time Mountain Home resident, passed away on Wednesday Aug. 10, 2011. He was 76 years old. George was born to Chester and Viola Evans on Jan. 17, 1935, in Kansas City, Mo., and attended Northeast Junior and Senior High School. In August 1954, George enlisted into the U.S. Army. Upon completing his basic training, George honored the great nation by serving abroad in Germany and the United Kingdom...
