The children quickly sat in their seats as Brenda Raub read at the front of the classroom. The teacher paused once she finished reading each page and turned the book around so the youngsters could enjoy the pictures. But the story of "The Rainbow Fish" was just part of the assignment the Mountain Home High School art teacher had in mind for the children. She hoped the pictures accompanying the tale would inspire them to create something similar during a project that followed story time...

High school and college students continue to face tough challenges finding work in cities like Mountain Home despite a slight increase in hiring in some Idaho communities. Statewide, the unemployment rate dropped to 9 percent in May with more than 68,000 people searching for work, according to the Idaho Department of Labor...

Robert and Linda Abbey of Mountain Home have announced the wedding of their daughter, Heather Lea Abbey, to Derek Anthony Shain, son of Ricky and Stacy Shain of Alamogordo, N.M.
