There will be no Crazee Daze this year. Instead, the Chamber of Commerce will simply sponsor a carnival in Railroad Park May 20-23. For those fighting to keep doctors Scott Baldridge and Allan Jeffrey in the community, there was a glimpse of a ray of hope described at last week's regular hospital board meeting. The two popular doctors want to stay in the community, but when Trinity Mountain Clinic, for whom they worked, declined to renew their contracts last year, they -- and their patients -- feared they would have to take their skills to Boise. ...

Mountain Home Air Force Base is one of four installations under consideration to control the service's fleet of pilotless aircraft. If approved, the base here would serve as one of a growing number of ground control stations responsible for flying the Air Force's fleet of MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft...

A couple thoughts on the upcoming elections.... I couldn't be prouder of the high school kids. In general, they're fighting for their lives to get the levy passed, but whether they were for or against it, there's something wonderful about them getting fired up over politics -- and local politics at that...

Dear editor: I would like to comment on the campaign letter endorsing Barbara Steele written by former Clerk of Elmore County, Ms. Best, April 7, 2010. I simply believe Elmore County would have been better served had Ms. Best written about Ms. Steele's educational and job experience qualifications for elected office. Was it Ms. Best's intention to attack Ms. Plummer's character, integrity and job performance without evidence?...

Dear editor: I am no longer a young person so I feel I have some experience in knowing what is right and what is wrong. Our current senator of District 22, Mr. Corder, seems to be lacking in that department. He was elected as a Republican but rarely votes with the Republicans in the Senate. ...
