The snowstorms that have struck Elmore County during the last week, and which are expected to continue for another week, have triggered scores of slide-offs and accidents on area roads. Most have not resulted in any injuries, but one man was seriously injured last Friday when he got out to help push the car he had been riding in out of the snow, after it slid to the edge of the road, and was struck by another vehicle...

The Mountain Home Junior High School Leadership class sponsored a school-wide food drive Dec. 2-17. Students managed to collect well over 2,000 items, which were donated to needy families throughout the community. The class collecting the most items was rewarded with a doughnut party, but in the spirit of the season, the students of Mrs. Zielke's 3rd hour English class instead donated the money for the party to another school fundraiser to help pay the medical bills for one of their classmates...

A Glenns Ferry home suffered extensive damaged when it caught fire Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 16. The Glenns Ferry Fire Department dispatched two pumpers and a brush truck to battle the blaze that broke out in the home of Dick and Ann Harder, 419 S. Commercial Ave., around 12:30 p.m...

The Mountain Home Tigers JV boys basketball team came up on the short end of their two games last week. Jerome 61 Mtn. The Mountain Home Lady Tiger sophomores picked up two more conference wins last week, beating Skyview and Columbia. Mtn. Home 26 Skyview 15 Mountain Home used an 11-1 edge in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and come away with a 26-15 win at Skyview last Tuesday...

The undermanned ninth-grade boys basketball squad traveled to Kuna this past Wednesday to take on the Kavemen. Kuna, using a pressing defense and fast-break offense, rolled to a 46-36 victory. The young Tigers playing without four starters, were confused in the first quarter and had a lot of trouble breaking Kuna's press, as Kuna jumped to a 23-0 lead after the first quarter...
