Glenns Ferry will celebrate its 21st Annual Three Island Crossing, a recreation of the 19th century Oregon Trail pioneer crossing of the Snake River, Aug. 11-13. This year's event will be a memorial to Marv and Wayne Wootan, two key players in the development of the crossing who both died in accidents during the last year...

A 77-year-old Mountain Home man who died last week was the latest victim of West Nile virus in Idaho, which currently is the nation's leading state in the number of reported West Nile cases. The man's name was not released due to privacy considerations...

George G. Hicks, a former Elmore County lawyer, has been appointed as the new magistrate judge of the Fourth Judicial District for Elmore County. An airman from the 366th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Mountain Home AFB was awarded the Bronze Star medal for valor Tuesday on base for his actions in Iraq after his convoy was attacked by insurgents. His citation notes that Ingerick "distinguished himself by heroism as Gun Ruck Command and Combat Life Saver" while on detached duty with the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing, "while engaged in ground operations near Balad Air Base in Iraq" on Dec. 5, 2005...

The amazing season of the Mountain Home Royals American Legion baseball team continues down its successful road. A road that has taken them from a District title in Boise to the Class A State Title in Coeur d'Alene. The road now leads to Sheridan, Wyo., for the Northwest Regional that starts Friday...

Shannon Davis and Danelle Bell have announced the joining of their families during a wedding on July 8, 2006, on the coast of Washington. Standing next to them during the matrimonial ceremonies were their children, Joshua Davis and Kaila Bowerman.
