A wild ride brought a new life into the world Feb. 17 when a Mountain Home woman gave birth to her second child, a little girl, on I-84, while heading to a hospital in Boise. But it wasn't without some complications. Lisa Ytuarte, 25, said her water broke and she woke her husband, Paul, at about 4:50 a.m. Friday morning to tell him "it's time."...

Janet Langfitt has announced that she will seek the District 1 county commissioner's seat on the Republican ticket. Langfitt said that her family "has been a part of Mountain Home since its early beginnings. I am the fourth generation in that six-generation line. We have lived here, worked here and raised our families here."...

A packed house heard former BSU and NFL football star Cedric Minter describe life growing up as one of the few blacks in Boise, as part of his keynote address to the 18th annual Black History Banquet. Organized by the Mountain Home Community Black History Committee, the annual banquet, held this year at the Hampton Inn, also featured the presentation of the group's Person of the Year award to Aaron Thomas, a long-time committee member active in a number of projects, particularly involving children, in the local community.. ...

Ashley Laverty of Mountain Home has announced the birth of a girl, Keely Elizabeth Laverty, on Jan. 27, 2006, at Elmore Medical Center. The babe weighed 8 lbs. 15 oz. and was 21-inches long at birth. Paula D. Wigley, 57, of Mountain Home, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at home. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Beverly M. Warner, 81, of Mountain Home, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at a local care center. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Graveside inurnment services will follow at Mountain View Cemetery...

Jack Edwin Jones, 79, of Boise, formerly of Mountain Home, died Feb. 19, 2006. Viewing will be held at Summers Funeral Chapel, 1205 W. Bannock, in Boise, on Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will held Feb. 23 at All Saints Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. under the direction of Summers Funeral Home. In what can be described as, "The one that got away," -- like many of the games they lost this year -- the 2005-2006 boys basketball season came to a close for the Mountain Home Tigers Saturday afternoon at Vallivue. With losses to Skyview and Vallivue the Tigers were eliminated from the District III 4A boys basketball tournament...
