Cedric Minter to highlight Black History banquet

Former BSU Bronco star football player Cedric Minter will be the featured speaker at the 18th annual Black History Banquet on Friday, Feb. 17, at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Mountain Home. The social hour begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:15 p.m. The cost is $30 per person and seating is limited. Avalanche conditions in mountains are high

Avalanche conditions in the mountains of northern Elmore County are "the worst I've seen in 20 years," according to Jim Noldand, director of the Elmore County Search and Rescue unit. More than a half mile of road near Curleau Docks at Anderson Ranch Reservoir on the road to Pine was closed for a 24-hour period last week after it was hit by a major slide. No injuries were reported but Noland says the danger has never been higher...

Don and Tammie Hedges of Bruneau have announced the marriage of their son, Heath, to Nicole Dalton, daughter of DeeAnn Giesler of Eagle and Doug Dalton of Pocatello. Joseph Karl Pollock, 84, died Jan. 29, 1921, at the Veterans Home in Boise. Funeral services were held Feb. 2 at Relyea Funeral Chapel in Boise. Arrangements were under the direction of the Cremation Society of Idaho. Karl was born Feb 16, 1921, in Tropic, Utah. The family moved to Farmington, Utah, where he lived in his early teens, and then to Sandy, Utah, where he attended Jordan High School. It was there that he met his future wife, Elsie Peterson.
