Little things can have a long-lasting legacy, Col. Michael Hoyes told the crowd at the 18th annual Black History Banquet in Mountain Home last Friday. Irene Broadbent, 86, formerly of Mountain Home, died Feb. 12, 2005, in Torrance, Calif. Born Sept. 1, 1918, in Mountain Home to Pearle and Dr. Thomas E. Evans, she attended elementary school and high school in Mountain Home. She served in the WACs during WWII...

Orval Harden, 97, died peacefully at home in Grand View, on Feb. 18, 2005. Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, in Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home. He was born in Cherokee County, Kan., in 1907, the fourth child of John William Erastus Harden, and Cora Ann (Belk) Harden. He joined two older sisters, Lola and Leona, and a brother, who died shortly after he was born...

Janice Rainey Haderlie Fleming, 69, of GrandView, died Feb. 20, 2005 at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise of pnuemonia. Jolene C. O'Hare, 71, died Feb. 16, 2005, at the Trinity Mission Health and Rehab Care Center in Nampa. Jolene was born May 23, 1933, in Long Beach, Calif., to Jody Ruland Cook and Wilmerth May (Adair) Cook. She lived and attended school in Albion, Idaho, until the age of 13, when they moved to Mountain Home, "although her heart never left Albion," her family said...
