Track Days in Utah
Well, it's the start of the second day for the Yamaha appreciation track day at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele Utah. Sponsored by Yamaha and Cycle City Yamaha of Mountain Home, the entire event was free for Yamaha owners.
Our first day was jammed packed with classroom and one-on-one training by professional racers. I have completed the novice school and at the end of day one worked my way up to the top 1/3 of the novice class on the track.
My new to me, 09 R1 is performing flawlessly as I am only using about 50% of its capability. Crashing is not in my program for the week. We are riding the full course used by the World Superbike race last may and with a huge straight away we get a chance to twist the tail on these great bikes. I hit 140 mph without a sweat while the advance riders were tapping the 180 to 200 mph range.
I started with a professional setting of my suspension then to the tire shop before the event and that paid off in spades. My bike runs like its on a rail through the S turns and everywhere else. There are 10 turns in the track that we have been studying all day and today is the fun day to fine tune all that we were able to absorb.
I will post a complete story of the event when I get back.
Cheers to fellow Gearheads and all I can say is this is more fun than should be legal.
