In my blog promoting a product is not something that I would do without serious consideration, this is an exception.

In my opinion the SPOT personal locator, or some version of this technology, is going to become the most important item that many outdoors enthusiasts can carry.

In short, Spot is going to save lives and many of them. What would you say about a device that could notify your wife or buddy or even make a 911 call with your exact GPS position? SPOT can also forward emergency contacts, medical information or any descriptions that you might want to include.

Spot can work anywhere in the continental United States including much of South America, Europe and other countries.

First of all it is a GPS that can transmit your GPS location via satellite to their website and notify any number of people who can see your location and status. There are no cell phone towers needed, only sky.

First of all the SPOT personal locator has a "OK" button that can send an email or cell phone text message to any one and as many people as you want.

Secondly it has the ability to email/text a number of emergency contacts that you designate from your account by hitting the help button for non life threatening situations.

Thirdly SPOT has a 911 button that is the same as calling 911. The information will contain a link to Google Earth with an exact marker of where you are including the nearest city and how far you are from it.

An acquaintance of mine recently traveled through Costa Rica, he was able to signal his wife that all was ok any time he wanted by pushing the I'm OK button a couple of times each day.

I have been using the device of two months now and its worked flawlessly. I haven't had to make any emergency calls but it has given a clear indicator of where I am traveling.

The SPOT personal locator is going to revolutionize my adventures in Idaho. I love to travel on those roads less or never traveled that leave me wondering if any one would ever find me if we broke down or were hurt. SPOT is going to offer me endless opportunities that I could only dream about last year.
