Just A Couple Days
This photo is from a couple weeks ago. We had to go check on some of the cattle on a Sunday. This mare is called Blue Jean. (because she's blue) but we just call her Jean. This is, I believe her 3rd ride, ever, and somehow, we wound up out there without a bridle for her. No worries, we had the halter she was wearing.
A few pets and they have an understanding,
And we're off!
Since this was her 3rd ride, of course, she's never been roped off of * ... but I"ve mentioned before, that when everything is new to them, nothing is out of the question. She doesn't know that some horses never get roped off of, or that some people don't know how to rope, or whatever reason. But she does know, that She's never been hurt by a rope, or by Wayne, and so she's OK pretty much with whatever happens.
On the way home from that day, we stopped a few times to take some photos. ya know, if you just look around, the World is a Beautiful place. There are stunning sights to see, just about everywhere. Autumn colors right now are popping out all over. Idaho has limitless opportunities for seeing many Wonders. Can you imagine hundreds of years ago, coming along and seeing this, and not knowing what was in the future? or over the hills? Those were some tough folks back then.
So a week or so ago, I had some photo shoots on a Sunday near Elko, Nevada.....so off we go to get those done, and drive a bit further (since we were in the area) We went to see the Ranch where the colts Wayne did some haltering on, lived. * They are lucky and have a great place to grow up. *
Blue and red horses abound on this ranch! And they were pretty curious about us
I've got kind of a thing for Buckskin horses, though I've only had one or two in my life. This photo turned out kind of cool. It looks like there is a shadow behind the buckskin, but it's really not
They are all clamoring for attention, and we didn't have enough hands
On the drive home, we stopped to shoot these Mustangs. Obviously they not as pretty as the ranch horses, (though sometimes, they are just ranch horses that have got loose) There were less than 15 in this herd, and most of them were studs. The ones (if you look close) with most of the scars (bite marks) are studs. Really, I could go on and on about Mustangs, but many of you wouldn't like it. I'm frustrated with the money that our Government puts into the "Wild Mustang" programs. But really, they aren't wild, they are being raised. (part of my issue) When the studs out number the others, that is simply not good planning. Not that we should be "planning" on them at all. (another issue) If you're curious, ask me about the Mustangs, and the money that you and I have to pay for their upkeep. It's staggering.
See the scars on the following horses? Lots of studs there. How many do a couple mares need?
The true Mustangs are a "thing" of past decades. Dreams and memories are made of them. And Disney Movies
Enjoy
