Tuesday is Working Ranch Horse

the Working Ranch Horse Chairperson this year, was Sherri Karren. Sherri is a local woman, who grew up here and was in 4-H herself. She's also a teacher locally, and has a way with kids that is amazing to watch. I'm so happy that she takes on this challenge year after year!

Kids learn to rope from a very young age. But again, keeping their safety in mind, we have the beginners do it afoot. There will be plenty of time to rope from horseback in their life. So much changes when you add a horse, and a 600 pound calf at the end of the rope. This way, they learn confidence in handling the rope, and building quick loops, and aiming at those rascally bovines.

There is a class called "Ranch Horse Pleasure" very similar to "Western Pleasure" but actually shows more (IMO) of how a horse should 'move out' and be a pleasure to ride.

Please take note of the smiles on these kids faces. They are 'out in the arena', so we aren't making them smile. They just are, cuz that's how they roll.

Hang out with leaders/Moms and just share the experience. THIS is one of my favorite things. It doesn't really matter most times, who's winning, ...they just all get along . * Color, race, politics don't matter here. It's about their common love of horses and 4-H. They're just all striving to do better each year.

I love that family comes to support family. Here is Wayne's Brother and his wife. Helping out, though they don't have kids in the horse show.

Another thing I love to see, is people treating their horses like friends. Friends get thirsty too!
