I am interested in this Community, County, and the beautiful state of Idaho. Most of my photos will be in Idaho, but from time to time, they will be my vacations aay from Idaho. You'll see lots of my Children and Grand children, along with others in my family. Of course there will be horses and horse related things, and things I photo'd horseback.

Gotta Love the Races

Of course I love the races! Who wouldn't? It's full of horses and speed. The adrenalin kicks in even if you're not riding. I don't just love the races, I love everything about it. You go with friends, so it starts off perfect. Wayne and I went with Carolyn,

and we had so much fun. We met other friends there, Frank, (who gave me away at our wedding) and his Wife Tina. I don't get to see them all the time, but he is now somewhat in charge of Les Bois, and his goal has been to bring racing back to the fore front. I haven't seen the tracks as full of people as this in years. It was a spectacular site.

I love watching people, and there were lots of them. People of all walks of life love the races/horses.

But mostly, I love to watch the horses. I love to watch them being readied for their races.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE how intense the look. They KNOW what's coming. It's in their blood, and they can't wait to get on the track and run, ..feel the wind in their mane, and the dirt clogs flying from their hooves into other's eyes.

Behind the gates there is so much activity, and the horses are especially fired up. The guys that work back there do a dangerous job. Being afoot amongst these hot blooded horses, when that hot blood is flowing is not for the weak hearted

It's all worth while, when you get to see this

They're off!

I don't know of a Horse Event that I've gone to, that we didn't honor this. Makes me proud that my chosen sports still have this flag flying high.

This young woman, (Katherine Hartman) played the Typical Call. That song has many names, but it's "First Call" played ten minutes before call to the post. She did an amazing job.

I loved how the escort horses were all decked out. I can't really imagine the time involved in doing this. But awesome jobs all 'round!

The grounds were so beautiful. Lots of flowers were planted, and I can't wait to see them as the summer goes on.

So, if you're bored....meet me at the races!

When they had the races in GF long time ago, it was fun for all the kids to collect the racing tickets that got thrown down.

Mom worked in the betting booth and Dad was busy with horse related stuff. A kid could amuse themselves all day long and never get into trouble.

I like watching the horses reactions throughout the race. If you watch the black horse closest to you in 2 pictures, he's worried about his rider for a minute. But he levels out once his rider is standing. Pretty cool. :)

I do LOVE watching horses too.

Very nice pictures I enjoyed them very much. In addition to teaching debate here in MH I am the announcer at Les Bois Park and I produce the Professors Picks Tip Sheet and chart the races for Equibase. I have been working at racetracks since 1979. I also help out with some of he PR, trainer Jack Van Berg (who won the Kentucky Derby with Alysheba) is coming to Les Bois on Belmont Day for a special racing seminar at 11am. In addition I am working on getting MH Day at the races set up where anyone from MH gets free admission on that day..

By the way the bugular's name is Katherine Hartman..

Wayne said he knew you were the debate coach and Les Bois track announcer. Tawnie is in your debate, and we are great friends with her parents. They had mentioned it to him.

So, you must know Frank ? He is also great friends with us, we try to see him as often as we can. He "gave me away" when we got married by Buck back in Feb 2012.

Darn it, I missed Belmont Day! (was photographing a wedding in Meridian) That would have been awesome to be there for.

And thanks also for the info on the bugular.....I think she was awesome.
