Nothing But Play
We've put on our first play day this Spring/Summer. Tentatively we plan to do one per month. We are volunteering our time and hoping to raise money for the local 4-H Horse Group.
Classes/Events are only
What a Deal! All the proceeds go directly to 4-H. The classes/events are open to all ages. We have folks lead younguns thru the classes, and some go fast, some go slow. All have fun!
This is Jilly doing her first rodeo without being led thru. Not going fast, but she's on her own! yay! Dang proud of Marshmallow, taking care of my girl....and my girl taking care of Marshmallow
This is a lady who got her first horse back in ...about October/November time. She's had to work thru lots of stuff, and this is an awesome moment in time.
Al is squinting against rain drops.... it has started coming down. This was last Wednesday, and the weather was NOT agreeable at all. It didn't stop us die hard horse crazy people from getting together.
Lots of times you go to a rodeo or play day, and there are age minimums, and no parents allowed in the ring. We threw that out the window and opened up the age limits. Invited parents in, and said HAVE FUN! There were no prizes, ... just fun. Fun and good times is enough prize/award anyway, doncha think?
We didn't require speed...and we weren't offering awards, but that didn't mean some didn't give us spectacular shows of what it's all about! Love this!
This is called the "Stake Race" pick up a flag/stake and take it to the next bucket, on top of the next barrel.
Some horses didn't care for our flags....
My Mom and Dad get a front row seat ...in their car.
They wanted to see their Great Granddaughter doing her first play day by herself!
Moms are the best! This is a Mom I see all over with her daughter, and Wendy was the co-ordinator of this Play Day. She did a great job! Volunteers are awesome!
It's really starting to rain!
Rain does not slow down a crazy horse lover!
The ribbon race is usually done with Crepe paper streamers. We were pretty sure they'd never make it in the rain. So we just used ropes....
There is a Grandpa here, and friends who come to support. We hope to see more people next month. And it might not even rain!
