Horses, Boots & Vows
Zach Zumstein did the auctioneering for our auctions while we were there.
He also did the 'announcing' that our wedding was about to start.
Have you heard of Buck Brannaman? If you haven't, I'm sure you've heard of the movie/book "The Horse Whisperer" ? Buck is who the "Horse Whisperer" is modeled after. And in the last year,
"Buck, The Movie" came out. It is a documentary on Buck Brannaman from childhood to now. In fact, many/most of you HAVE seen him, many many years ago (now that I think of it, and I challenge you to figure out where/how) He was mentored many years by Mountain Home's own Ray Hunt. Anyway, I am honored that he officiated my wedding.
Frank Lamb gave me away, and we are waiting for Ceremony to start
I did mention that this wedding was in the main arena, in front of hundreds, right? Well, yep, it was.... can you say "Dry throat"?
Below are a lot of people that we care deeply about.
From left to right
horseback is Wade Black, Frank Lamb, Buck Brannaman, Carolyn Hunt, Trina Campbell,
Jaton Lord, Wayne's Best Man
ah, Yes, There are the Women who stood with me. Sharon and Carolyn. Thank goodness for them!
Here comes the bride, with Frank Lamb, and horseback is Reata Brannaman, swingin' her rope encouragingly
Wayne & Jaton have realized they are in the wrong spots, so doing a dance to have me marry the right man!
I LOVE that I got to wear a wedding dress with some of my favorite boots. And I even had white ones for the occasion!
Frank hands me off to Wayne, and Buck takes his place as minister.
Seriously, this is so cool. Buck officiates our wedding in a pair of leggings that we was wearing moments before horseback.
I am wearing a bracelet that Jaton made for me a couple years ago, while he was bed ridden after breaking his neck in a horse crash. I also have hidden on myself, a gift that Sharon will eventually give to her grand daughter. And my own momento of the sister that I lost. (who I'm sure was with me) The necklace I'm wearing is a first gift from Wayne a couple years ago. Everything has it's place.
This is a "One of a Kind" Wedding
Suddenly, Carolyn shoves a microphone in my hand. I was NOT anticipating that. I don't choke up over much, and to my surprise, I had to start over and mentally shake myself. I'll let you guess if Wayne choked up or not.
Carolyn's voice came to me from a fog "That's enough!"
In my Father's 'stead, Frank Lamb gave Wayne a 'talkin' to' about "You better take care of her" He will get another one too!
If you don't have a friend like this, you are missing out. Sharon and Jim didn't really have the time for this, but they came anyway. This was Sunday about 4-5, and Jim had to work the next morning. It's a 10:00 drive from Vegas to Mountain Home. They left around 7-8. You do the math. These are friends forever.
Good friends
Rather than 'walking off into the Sunset" We go walking down a tunnel!
With Sharon is my friend Charlene, who I met in Fort Worth, Texas 3 years ago. I love making friends around the states!
We are upstairs now, back having normal fun. I just decided to keep my dress on. The lady in the vest is Betty Staley. This is the first trip that I've met her, and I am soooooo lucky and happy that I did. She does dressage riding at it's finest. I've seen good, and I've seen better. Only on television have I seen as wonderful as she is. And she is such a warm and friendly person. I plan to see more of her, without question. If you are interested in dressage at all, or art in many forms, check out
You won't be sorry
I've learned to never meet a stranger. A non stranger came up to me and said, "You two HAVE to have a cake!" This new friend brought us a cake!
These photos were taken by Jim Kilburn.... thank you so much for coming, and for helping in so many ways.
Is it terribly vain to have a blog about myself? Well, yes, I suppose so, but I'm so excited to have had this weekend.... a true plethora of adventures and experiences!
We mostly stayed in the facility where we were.
South Point Hotel/Equestrian Even Center
but we did go "Walk the strip" a bit. Fun, but don't need to really do that much again. but who knows.... another time!
