Our new baby.
3 days after we got to Cascade our little mare had this little filly. I took these first photos the very morning she was born. All the horse in the photos are a little wound up at the newcomer's arrival. My old black mare, Mariah loves babies, so she wanted it for herself. The buckskin gelding, Jax, didn't know that such a thing existed.... so little ya know. We couldn't get very close to them, Mama (which Al has named Rose) didn't want to be touched, so these pics are from a bit of a distance. Al named the baby Daisy, so I guess that's her name.
This picture won an award on "Outdoor Idaho" I'm a bit proud of that!
These next pictures are about a week later.
Amazing how quickly animals become fairly self sufficient. This little filly runs all over the place.
Mama, Rose, Is feeling friendly again
My old girl has gray hairs....she's about 27 years old
On one of my daughter's visits, she sprung up on the old girl, after checking her teeth, for good measure.
This is one of the horses that Katie did some High School rodeo on. She has certainly earned her retirement. Now she's a babysitter!
All the kids want to be close to the baby.
Al will probably be the first to ride this filly.
Each time we visit the baby, Al gets closer and closer to her. This time, she did actually touch her.
And then the baby touches Wayne
Enjoy
This takes us thru about 3 months of the newcomer's life.
