Great article Marilyn! Did you know that after the impeachment proceedings for Clinton, the Republicans lost some seats in the next election in Congress. I don't think that most people in the United States like to see Congress wasting time and not working on things that are important to them.

Related to this, David Lettermen now has a segment called "Stooge of the Night" where he identifies a Senator or Congressman who voted against background checks and what percent of the people in his or her district wanted background checks and then mentions how much the NRA does to support his or her campaign.

From what we have heard, the Obama administration is quite powerful and corrupt. We heard rumors Obama used a weather machine to cause the recent OK tornadoes. We heard Obama and the UN have opened many reeducation camps disguised as FEMA camps. We have actual confirmation communists are hiding behind each and every rock in Idaho. We know beyond a shadow of a doubt a college education turns people into communist, liberals and socialists while the uneducated are the true smart citizens. And who can forget Umbrella-gate. With all these scary things happening why aren't the good guys out gathering for the American Revolution II? Shock and awe boys.

Capitalism is a word that has had its meaning changed over time. What it meant at the time of the country's founding was people providing capital (money) for a business. Marx seems to be the person that described it as an economic system.

Today Obama changed the subject on the Republicans. Boehner hung in there anyway for some more trash talk. It looks to me that the Republicans would rather have turmail than be a national party.

I did notice that the groups that are complaining about being "targeted" actually may have lied on their application which actually is against the law.

In this country we have a separation of powers between the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches for the Federal government. In the case of Congressional subpeona for someone in the Federal branch a number of things can happen.

1. The Federal employee(s) can comply as they have many times for this Congress in particular.

2. They can negotiate with Congress on what is being requested, for example to exclude some things that by sharing risks the national interests.

3. They can not comply using executive privelege which means that they believe that it is against the national interest to share some information.

In the case of number 3, Congress can appeal and the Judicial branch then decides based on the merits of the case.

It looks to me like the IRS is having some problems and they aren't getting a pass on targeting however, they were targeting political groups, who should not be asking for tax exempt status, including some liberal groups.

The IRS also went wrong in 1959 when it changed the meaning of a law that said "exclusively" to "primarily". The IRS doesn't get to make laws and just needs to use the original law.

The same thing is happening in Virginia, MsMarylin. They decided to not have a primary for the Republican candidates but instead had a convention where they picked their candidates. These candidates are bound to alienate even more people from the Republican party. It's kind of like they have gotten so extreme that they don't know what's good for them.

LET me mention this are we aware that the Idaho legislature flirted with the idea of the legislature picking our state senators instead of the voters.With a convention picking candidates the question is who's incharge?????? certainly not the voter.SO the question then becomes who wants the dictatorship.Every state that has a republican legislature has lost citizen rights with the most egregious being MICHIGAN.

I heard someone say that the Republican party seems to have been taken over by a small extreme right group (tea party, etc.) that is bringing the party down.

Tactics like that may get them short term goals but tend to anger the voters. In my family some people that always vote Republican in presidential elections voted Democratic in the last election. It was the extreme right that was concerning them.

There are not many republicans in my inner circle however those that are there are voicing the same concerns you mentioned.Yes the country is center right but not to the extreme some want to take us and certainly not to the point that the voting public loose there say.I don't think the the dems know what is best for me anymore than I think the repubs do.I would be willing to bet most of the country feels the same way.The exstreme right knows what it has attempted to do to the country

What you don't seem to understand is that giving citizenship to illegal aliens brings a tremendous amount of taxed money into the U.S. economy so that maybe we can afford retirement for our baby boomers that have paid into social security for years.

What you don't seem to understand is that we will get more educated immigrants from other countries because of lightening up on immigration. That improves our technology and economy.

What you don't seem to understand is that illegal immigrants will now have to have insurance as a result of Obamacare so that the U.S. economy doesn't have to absorb the costs of their medical care.

Moral majority, the United States was not founded on Judeo Christian principles. It was founded with the idea of freedom of religion and separation of Church and State. I think you've been told that about 20 times now.
