The idea behind Robert's Random is for me to write about whatever I'm thinking about whenever I'm thinking it. I try to write 3-5 times a week, but sometimes real work gets in the way of that. Sometimes I'll share whatever random thought I might have that day but most of the time, I like to write about things going on in the news. I'm a total news junkie, I spend a lot of time online at various news sites. If I find a story where someone does something totally stupid or I wonder "what were they thinking?" I don't mind pointing it out incase others missed it or taking my best guess at what they were thinking. I like to laugh, I like to make others laugh. There's so much serious and wrong stuff going on in the news that when I find an unusual or light story, I like to use it. And while real life news events might be the focus of many of my blogs, I'm just trying to entertain you, make you laugh and maybe even think about something you didn't know before reading. I'm not trying to break any serious news or deliver any hard-hitting coverage. You'll have to read a paper or watch one of the network shows for that.
Do celebrities get in on Facebook doppelganger week?
It's doppelganger week on facebook. If you don't know what doppelganger is, or even how to say it, you're not alone. According to Wikipedia and the dictionary, it's the ghostly double of a living person.
According to everyone on facebook who has participated, it's celebrity lookalike week. We can't all go to camp and meet our identical twin stranger.
I'm not sure which celebrity I look like (though I am open to suggestions), but I've enjoyed watching my friends change their profile pictures the past few days to famous people they've been told they look like.
I looked at my friends list today and had to ask myself when I became friends with Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, Carrie Underwood and a host of others.
Some have been dead on, such as my friend who uploaded a picture of Tara Reid or the friend I've always thought looked just like Katherine Heigl. For some of my friends, I'm think, "I'm not sure I see that," and for others, I'm think, "Yeah, that's not even close, there's no way you could ever be that pretty," but I keep these thoughts to myself.
It's been a little confusing keeping up with everyone in the newsfeed. I have to make sure I look at the name and not just the profile picture or I won't have a clue who is doing what and then all the time I spend facebook stalking people would just be a waste.
All this celebrity lookaliking has me wondering, are famous people changing their profile pictures to pictures of normal people they think they might look like?
Did Brad Pitt change his profile picture to Joe the plumber who lives in Dayton, Ohio? Did Taylor Swift change hers to some Sally the 17-year-old high school student from El Paso, Texas?
Or did celebrities change their profile pictures to people they've played in movies or TV shows? Did Dustin Hoffman change his to Kim Peek, the original Rain Man? Or did George Clooney change his to him as Dr. Doug Ross?
Or did famous people also get in on the fun simply by changing their facebook profile picture to someone they look like that is also famous, Sarah Palin/Tina Fey style?
