The idea behind Robert's Random is for me to write about whatever I'm thinking about whenever I'm thinking it. I try to write 3-5 times a week, but sometimes real work gets in the way of that. Sometimes I'll share whatever random thought I might have that day but most of the time, I like to write about things going on in the news. I'm a total news junkie, I spend a lot of time online at various news sites. If I find a story where someone does something totally stupid or I wonder "what were they thinking?" I don't mind pointing it out incase others missed it or taking my best guess at what they were thinking. I like to laugh, I like to make others laugh. There's so much serious and wrong stuff going on in the news that when I find an unusual or light story, I like to use it. And while real life news events might be the focus of many of my blogs, I'm just trying to entertain you, make you laugh and maybe even think about something you didn't know before reading. I'm not trying to break any serious news or deliver any hard-hitting coverage. You'll have to read a paper or watch one of the network shows for that.
Marine turned Bronco of the day
Follow the link below to read what is mostly a poorly-written story about a former Marine who is a NFL rookie for the Denver Broncos. While making this transition might be hard for almost anyone, Rulon Davis gets extra points for doing it after his legs were ran over by a semi truck between safely returning home from Iraq and returning to college.
While it's not the best written story, it's still worth a look.
It also supplied one half of the stupidest comments I read yesterday by this bonehead:
"Who the F cares?
He's no different than anyone else.
I hope he fails miserably."
In case you're wondering, the other half of the stupid comments I read yesterday was a comment left on the Idaho Statesmen's Web site in response to the story about Idaho's defensive coordinator being arrested for a DUI.
The comment said something to the affect of, "what do you expect, another Vandal getting arrested? It's up there in the middle of nowhere and there's nothing to do but drink and drive."
While I'll be the last person on Earth to condone drinking and driving, this is a pretty ignorant thing for what I can only presume was a BSU fan to say. First of all, the guy is a BSU grad and the son of a former Bronco head coach, which makes his ties to Boise State just as strong, if not stronger, this his current ties to Idaho. Second of all, while it may or may not be true that there isn't a whole lot more to do up here in Moscow than drink, HE WAS ARRESTED IN BOISE.
Anyways, to recap, drinking and driving's bad. People saying stupid stuff just to say something, not cool. Iraqi war vet and Marine trying to make it in the NFL is a good thing.
