Originally, I planned this week’s editorial to serve as a ray of hope or beacon of sunshine to help people get into the holiday spirit — a time of giving and helping others. After all, I tend to be someone who enjoys smiling and laughing in hopes my joy and quirky sense of humor spreads to others and makes their lives better, even if it’s just for a little while...

A spontaneous outburst of applause temporarily drowned out the buzz of activity at the local department store Saturday morning. The clapping continued each time a law officer, firefighter, military person or a few others stepped into the building. But the applause wasn’t meant for those men and women. Wreaths Across America event scheduled (Local News ~ 12/11/24)
People in the Mountain Home community join others in cities across the nation Saturday morning to honor the country’s military veterans during the annual Wreaths Across America Day observance. Currently scheduled to start at 10 a.m. that day at Mountain View Cemetery, community representatives and volunteers plan to continue a tradition by placing specially designated wreaths in honor of the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine as well as current and former prisoners or war and those still missing in action.. ... -

Judy B. Collins passed away December 8, 2024 in Mountain Home, Idaho at the age of 66 after an illness. Judy was born August 12, 1958 in Spencer, West Virginia to Quentin and Wanda King. Plans to build an electrical substation on the westside of Mountain Home took a step forward as members of the city’s planning and zoning commission discussed this project during its monthly meeting Dec. 3.
